Alijoma real names John Maggot Ghor, better known by his stage name Alijoma, is a South Sudanese Afrobeat, Reggae and Dancehall artist. Alijoma was born on August 28, 1991 in Nyan Patweet and raised in Bor Town. An Electrical Engineering graduate, he has touched the hearts, minds and souls of many people around the world with his multi-genre music that is entertaining, informative and inspiring. Wherever Alijoma goes, music follows him.
In 2014, Alijoma gained recognition from fellow artists and recognition from the audience. In the same year, Alijoma signed a short-term contract with Grandtune Entertainment and began his solo career in 2014. His album “Love n Fame”, released on October 14, 2021, made him one of the most popular music figures in the South Sudan region. Her album Love n Fame won her the Best Music Album of the Year award at the 2021 South Sudan Music Awards (SSMA).
He was musically influenced by Congolese singers such as Awilo Longomba and Kofi Orimide, as well as South Sudanese greats such as Panchol Deng Ajang, John Kudusayi and Bor Panang, to name a few. With over a decade of experience in the industry, Alijoma specializes in creating relatable and feel-good songs across a variety of genres including Zouk, Afrobeat, Dancehall and Reggae. With his immense passion for music, Alijoma recorded his debut single “Let’s Go to School” under the stage name “Nicky Jay” in 2010, which gained recognition locally but did not meet his expectations. Staying true to his artistry, Alijoma released three songs under the stage name “Chris Nicky” in 2013, “Louis Labong” and “Atehwut”, all of which became huge hits in 2013.
