WJ de King | Biography
WJ de King (“Man of Peace”), real names Wonrock James, is an award-winning South Sudanese reggae dancehall artist from Juba, South Sudan. He is from Eastern Equatoria State, South Sudan. He is a well-known and respected South Sudanese musician/artist who has played a key role in promoting peace and children’s rights.
Singer and peace and children’s rights activist WJ de King was born on 12 April 1987 in a remote town in Parajok Magwi District, South Sudan. He was previously the International Representative for Save the Children in South Sudan. His professional music career began in 2005 as a member of the musical group Freedom Boys, followed by a solo career that led to the founding of the Kingdom of Lokwili. He is the current ruler and is known as “WJ De, King Lokwilili”.
Now known as one of Sudan’s finest musicians and a source of inspiration to many, the superstar has used his musical talents to entertain, inspire and promote peace in his homeland. He has released numerous albums, the latest being Street Children, released on September 22, 2021. He collaborated with singers from Uganda and Tanzania to preach the Gospel of peace and unity not only in his country but around the world.
